Crystal Williamson, LCSW
Hello! Let me introduce myself.
Welcome in! I am the owner of Roots Therapy and Consulting.
Fun facts about me- I grew up as a “gifted” kid in the 90s, which just means that I am now a recovering perfectionist, people pleaser, and procrastinator. I love books and playing the piano but I don’t seem to make enough time for either. I feel most alive and relaxed in the woods. Being surrounded by giant trees makes me feel like I can breathe again.
I care deeply about people and empathize easily. I approach people with curiosity and have spent a lot of my life seeking to understand why people do what they do. I’m an enneagram nerd (Type 9 with a small 8 wing) and personality typer (INFJ in Myers-Briggs). I think most people could benefit from therapy to better understand themselves and heal from past wounds. I grew up in a minister’s family in the Christian church. As an adult, I still love Jesus and my church, even while often feeling tension with the greater American Christian culture. I’m a wife and a mom of 3 kids and one fluffy dog. I have survived tragedy and deep loss where I learned to pick up the pieces of my own life.
I chose a career in social work because I wanted to help people who were hurting. The early part of my career was in a children’s hospital, where I learned to sit with people from all walks of life through their worst days. Eventually, I branched into clinical social work because I loved going deeper with people in a one-on-one setting. I joined a group practice for several years and then opened my own practice in 2024. I love sitting down with clients and helping them figure out how to heal and build their ideal life. There is nothing more rewarding than watching a client learn to believe in themselves and take big or small steps forward to a better future. The first step of that journey starts when you decide to reach out and get started. If you’d like to ask some questions to see if I’m the right fit for your needs, you have nothing to lose by scheduling a free phone consultation with me today.
“Two sturdy oaks I mean, which side by side,
Withstand the winter's storm,
And spite of wind and tide,
Grow up the meadow's pride,
For both are strong
Above they barely touch, but undermined
Down to their deepest source,
Admiring you shall find
Their roots are intertwined
Insep'rably.”
-from “Friendship” by Henry David Thoreau
