EMDR Psychotherapy
What is EMDR?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a treatment approach that focuses on the ways the brain has adapted and responded to trauma and other life experiences. EMDR interventions build coping strategies for internal support and then use specific interventions to desensitize the emotional responses around memories and negative beliefs. It is an intervention that treats the whole brain and body, rather than just the logical or thinking part of the brain. For many people, EMDR provides healing and mind shifts they didn’t believe were possible. EMDR is my primary modality, but I customize treatment for each client and use research-based interventions and strategies from other therapy traditions as applicable.
